Clos CheValle 101

— Location, Architecture, Governance —

The Clos CheValle neighborhood on Lake Chelan’s south shore offers a convenient location, an inviting vineyard design, and effective architectural standards.  Learn more about this cornerstone neighborhood on the south shore.

History:

The creators of Clos CheValle had the long game in mind when it came to developing their south shore neighborhood in Lake Chelan.  They purchased the land in 1976 as a working apple orchard and continued to raise Red and Golden Delicious for the next thirty years.

Finally, in 2006, the apple trees were replaced by vineyards, roads, and homesites. The neighborhood of Clos CheValle was born.

Location & Design:

Meaning “walled vineyard”, Clos CheValle is a gated community of 67 homesites that range from a half to three-quarters of an acre.  The neighborhood is a convenient forty minutes to neighboring Wenatchee.  It includes the 66-acre Clos CheValle Vineyard and nearly forty acres of open space (pink and green in the lot map).

Three-miles of paved walking trails connect with private parks, and at every turn, sweeping views of Lake Chelan meet the eye.

Golf lovers will enjoy the presence of nationally recognized Bear Mountain Golf Resort just a mile up the road.

Architectural Standards

A portion of the success of Clos CheValle is due to its protective, yet not overly restrictive design standards.  These standards have led to steady growth of the neighborhood since its inception and a steady financial appreciation in home and lot values.

The vision statement at the beginning of the standards encourages “the development of architecturally authentic wine country homes, whether traditional, contemporary or modern, reminiscent of homes and wineries found in southern Europe or Napa Valley wine country.”

While other neighborhoods have struggled to grow based on overly restrictive standards, Clos CheValle struck a fair balance to allow a diversity of architectural expressions within an overarching vision.

Governance:

Finally, the Clos CheValle neighborhood can pride itself on excellent governance.  A trip to the HOA website reveals a clear schedule of upcoming meetings, a roster of all leaders and committees, and a robust document section with both governing and financial documents.

This strong example of neighborhood leadership along with balanced architectural standards, an elegant vineyard design, and a lovely location make Clos CheValle a sought after place to live on the south shore of Lake Chelan.
